We are: Chris Franses & Barbara Chainey, partners in quilting crime for more than twenty five years! Barbara founded Staffordshire Patchworkers in the early 1980s and we both taught regular classes in and around Stoke-on-Trent for many years. We have been very active members of the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles at local, regional and national level. Both of us are published authors and we also self-publish various booklets on all sorts of quilting topics. Chris was Assistant Editor with Patchwork and Quilting Magazine for a couple of years. Barbara still maintains a busy national and international teaching schedule including the prestigious International Quilt Festival at Houston, and designs fabric and stencils. We both contribute articles to the major UK & US quilting magazines and have enough ideas to keep us busy for another twenty years!
Our workshops: We aim to offer a friendly, laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy learning and developing your skills. Workshop topics are fresh each year and tailored specifically for this programme. Our teaching emphasis is on sound basic technique and encouraging your ideas and confidence –and, of course, you will have ample individual attention as well as chocolate biscuits.
To confuse those of you who don't know us the photos are the other way round - Barbara is on the left (with dog); Chris (looking thoughtful?) on the right.
